Ruth Tomlinson
My jewellery is driven by my passion for the magic of minutiae, tiny intricacies, small oddities, and the search for preciousness within the world. My inspiration comes from the idea of lifecycles, change in nature and the history of jewellery. There are four collections to date including the signature ‘Flora’ inspired by the delicacy of nature, using a unique combination of porcelain and precious metals, to create romantic and feminine jewels. ‘Encrustations’ inspired by stories of forgotten underwater worlds, using jewels and colours of the sea; pearl, coral and aqua’s imbedded in layers of silver. There is also the Opulent ‘Hoard’ collection and the newly formed ‘Sketch’ series, experiments in drawing with wire. Also I have just recently received the ‘Coutts New Jeweller Award’ to develop and promote the new wedding and engagement ring collection, to be launched in June during Coutts jewellery week, a new venture into the world of fine jewellery.
