Disa Allsopp I am very interested in ancient jewellery like the Egyptians, Etruscans and many ancient civilisations that worked in metal. I hope my jewellery has that quality. This jewellery is mainly 18ct gold and sterling silver. Finishes used are oxidised silver hammered and forged gold /silver. I leave the metal in its natural state using techniques.such as forging,reticulation patination and hammering. I do sketch a lot and try to keep the same freeness in the jewellery. I have
used some precious and semi precious stones such as garnets, tourmalines,
diamonds for their colour. The range of jewellery includes necklaces,
rings, earrings ,
Born in London. Grew up in Barbados, studied at Middlesex university and Postgrad Jewellery Edinburgh College of Art & Design. I set up a workshop in Barbados and then returned to London in 1996 where I currently design and make precious jewellery. |
