Sophie Hanagarth lives and works in Paris and teach at the jewelryworkshop of the HEAR (High School of Arts of the Rhine) in Strasbourg since 2002. Graduate of the High School of Applied Arts in Geneva in 1995.

Sophie Hanagarth creates an ambiguous object directory (ornaments), where the shaping of materials and their relation to the body create a nature-related questions jewelery as an attribute. The originality of his approach lies in its approach to both carnal and corrosive that unfolds through the expertise specific to the metal.

She received the Herbert-Hoffmann prices in Munich in 2011 and the Foundation van den Bosch prize 2014 in Amsterdam for her work. His works have included the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg, Museo Internazionale delle Arti Applicate Oggi Turin, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Mint Museum in Charlotte, CODA Museum of Appeldorn Schmuckmuseum in Pforzheim, MUDAC Lausanne Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris and Montreal.

"Lipstick is a ring – mouth, a tube on which, at one extremity luscious lips stand out in profile. Slipping it on, it’s the finger which lets itself be swallowed, one extremity of your body lets itself be caught. Conceived as a bait to sensuality, it absorbs us, it eats us, it sucks us. A cannibal jewel."
