Julia Baudler

During my studies I dealt with three different topics: psychology of perception, psychology of colours and the value of things. All these subjects have someting in common: Illusion.

For a better understanding how to deceive people, I started asking myself a couple of questions: What is illusion? Is it measurable? How do we realize our ambience? And with which kind of instrument is it possible to deceive people? As well as the psychology of perception I wanted to know why coulours are so important to us and especially to me. Are they nessessary? Which kind of association do you get by seeing specific colours? Why? Are there any cultural differences? What are the consequences? Are colours important for jewellery? And what does colours mean to me? Based on my used materials (gemstones, silver, glas, silicon and resin) I dealt with the value of things too. What is value? How does a piece get its value? How to value jewellery?

Besides consideration of these topics, it was mostly important to me to develope myself – theoretically and practically. I wanted to find new possibilities to work and exploring borders.

Furthermore I want to see myself in my pieces and the fun I had during the working progress. Jewellery is fun for me and i hope the person who wear pieces from my collection have fun with it too. It's always a pleasure to me to see happy and smiling faces when they see or wear my jewellery.
