Rauni Higson

Rauni works in a converted chapel ioverlooking the stunning Nantlle ridge, in the beautiful Snowdonia mountain region of North Wales.
She studied in Finland for 3 years at Lahtl Design Institute (Lahden Muotoiluinstituutti) then graduated in 1996 (BA Hons) after a final year at Birmingham School of Jewellery, UCE.
She set up her studio in 1997 with support from the Prince's Youth Business Trust.
Combining Fold-forming with traditional metalworking techniques, Rauni pushes her craftsmanship and understanding of her and her hammer can be found in every piece she makes.
Rauni became a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths in 2010.

Exhibitions have included:
'Contemporary British Silver' at Asprey. Bond St, London, Jan-Feb 2010.
'Treasures of the 21st Century', Ruthin Craft Centre, Jan-April 2010.
Previously toured the UK, and the National Museum of Ireland, Dublin.

'Connect', Contemporary British Silversmiths exhibition, toured 2006-9.
'Not just any bowl', with the Yaw Gallery, at SOFA Chicago 2008.

Commissions include:
Royal wedding gift for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, 2011; a plate engraved with a stag and oak, the emblem of Berkshire, presented by the people of the Royal County of Berkshire.

'Undersea' Candelabra for Aspreys, Bond St. Limited Edition of 5, 2009.

'Eucalyptus' Flatware, 72 piece canteen, private collection, 2010.
