Angela Knipe
Although lacking any formal training, I have made things all my life, sometimes
purely for pleasure and sometimes for income: from designing knitwear to rag rugs
through to making and working with puppetry. I supplied hand made cards to an
agent until my designs were published by a number of card companies, including
Oxfam and Unicef. As I worked a lot with collage, it was a natural rogression for
me to start cutting out shapes in fabric. From there I designed a range of hand
made jewellery using knitting and stitching. I use natural materials wherever
possible – felt, wool, cotton etc – and each design is unique and never quite the
same as the next of its kind. My jewellery sells under the banner “jewellery to put a
smile on your face”.
I began selling my jewellery at Portobello market, London and quickly began
supplying galleries throughout England although I mostly concentrate on selling in
North Yorkshire.
