LOUISE O'NEILL

My work is defined by elegant simplicity of line and purity of form, having a strong sculptural quality which is enhanced by the use of matt texture. I am inspired by the natural and built environment, I identify elements that I translate into the essence of my designs. Observed pattern and shape inform my pieces. Working mostly in 18ct gold, the majority of my pieces are ‘one offs'. My most recent work involves investigation into effects produced by piercing and patterning through the metal whilst still continuing my fascination with the palette of different shades of various gold alloys and contrasting or complimenting these with the colours of other metals, the resulting pieces having a rhythmic and graphic quality.
