NOEMIE DOGE

My jewels are like objects brought back from a journey. Like a stone, a shell, a music, a souvenir brought back from somewhere. They do not narrate a place in particular, but are rather an ideal from this far away place.
The intention of my work is to implicate something I can’t find in the pieces of traditional jewellerymakers : a richness that doesn’t come from the preciousness of materials but from a visual strength, primitively symbolic of the object.
Daily life is my inspiration source : a bicycle’s chain found on the street, the mother of pearl buttons brought back from a journey or an empty bottle dragging around my kitchen. It’s a long way to go, much more important than its destination.
The result of my work often surprises me. Looking at my pieces I get the impression that they always have existed, that they are older than me. As if I finally didn’t do anything but find them.
