Lauren Bell-Brown

Using a combination of cuttlefish and lost wax casting techniques, Lauren Bell-Brown creates unique jewellery pieces, hand stitching textile fragments of fairytale illustrations into each.

Her inspiration comes from a love of 19th century original Grimm’s Brothers and Hans Christian Andersen fairytales and the evocative imagery they provoke.

Her ‘Decadent Demise’ collection is dedicated to her interpretations, combining fairytales traditional beauty with darker elements of the original tales, portrayed using finishes of silver, gold, rose gold and oxidization. Arthur Rackham and Kay Nielsen’s fairytale illustrations are sublimated onto organza then heat treated using shibori, an ancient Japanese technique..
